Is Wales its own separate country that's part of the UK?

It is its own separate country..the capital is Cardiff.

...although, it kind of confuses me, because they call Prince William the "Prince of Wales" ...but won't he be the King of England when his father dies?? I always thought that was a little mixed up.

Yes, Wales is a cosituent country of the United Kingdom, just like Scotland, England and NI. Just like Scotland it was given its own parliement in the late 90s and is quickly starting to be given the right make its own laws. The person in charge of Wales is Rhodri Morgan and Gordon Brown. I live in the Capital City Cardiff, which is home to some 400,000 people and 1,900,000 people in the wider area sorrounding the city.
