  2. I've been to the walmart here in Brazil (rio) and it seems just as popular as other stores here.... they seem to like it.. I sure did.. it had everything i needed.

  3. The Wall Mart is not popular in Brazil with that name. In Brazil the Wall mark operate with others names, such as: Big, Mercadorama, Sam Club, etc.

The name Wall Mart practically is not used here.

  4. i would say,no.at least here in my city, there isn`t any stores.most people don`t know about walmart.i just have heard about them in an american tv serie.but maybe there can be walmart stores in really big cities like são paulo for example.

  5. I'm from City of São Paulo and there are 5 Wal-Mart stores here in my city. Wal-Mart isn't popular such as Carrefour, for an example. It is "new" here, if you compare it to the Carrefour.  It has opened its first Brazilian store eleven years ago, in São Paulo. Anyway, Carrefour is here since 1975. Besides, we can find a Carrefour store in any place of here, so maybe that's why Wal-Mart isn't popular yet.

  6. Yes Here in Brazil it is quite popular. The Walmart is in almost all cities of Brazil, even to live.

The Brazilian cities are growing fast and estã increasingly updated.

  7. I wouldnt say they are as popular as WM in US.  They operate 313 Stores in Brazil, so they must be getting market share, folks are buying there.  I can tell you that the prices are higher at WM in Brazil due to import taxes vs. WM stores in the US.

As of January 31, 2008, Wal-Mart operated 971 discount stores, 2,447 supercenters, 132 neighborhood markets, and 591 Sam's Clubs in the United States; and 21 units in Argentina, 313 in Brazil, 305 in Canada, 149 in Costa Rica, 70 in El Salvador, 145 in Guatemala, 47 in Honduras, 394 in Japan, 1,023 in Mexico, 46 in Nicaragua, 54 in Puerto Rico, and 352 in the United Kingdom, as well as 202 stores through joint ventures in China.
