Is Wardley Premium Betta Food a good buy?

I have a blue betta fish and he wont eat that Wardley Premium Betta Food stuff, but my last fish (he was red) ate it like it was his last meal, he loved it!! But my blue one refuses it, he just looks at the food and swims away! Is it because of the color of the fish (red like the last one) on the bottle (i doubt it, but just in case) idk if it's a specific food for the color of the fish?!?!?! I'm scared and i just got him Saturday, and I want him to live as long as my last fish did (a year and a half /R.I.P. Lotus); poor thing even lost his color, he used to be deep blue, and he had a black spot covering on his head, now he looks dry and very light blue! I'm not a bad fish parent, I'm just confused.... I thought i should give him a little time to adjust to the new place, but it's been 3 freakin' days, and I don't want him to die! PLEASE help my little fish!!!!!

Thank you,

Jassy

  1. I believe Wardley uses a lot of filler, ie cornmeal.

You will want to use somethin with less of this, or none at all, the best Betta Food I have come by is HIkari Betta Food, many others will agree.

  2. Are you feeding flakes or pellets? Bettas can be really picky and don't often care for the flake food.

Hikari is the best betta food, in my opinion.

You can also try dried bloodworms as an occasional treat. they love those!

Bettas can go a few days without eating, easily, so I doubt he is starving to death (yet). It sounds like he could be ill. I would recommend posting a new post with more details on his appearance and behavior (and photos?) so we can help you diagnose and treat him.

  3. First thing you have to understand about bettas is.  THEY ARE PICKY!  Yes for fish they are very picky about what they eat.  If you just got him and have switched his food he is going to refuse it for a few days.  Till he gets too hungry and gives it a try then they grow to like it.  If you are really worried your fish is starving then get some dry blood worms they LOVE those.

Give him time to adjust to his new home and once he settles in he will try the food. I have had many bettas do this at first.

Best betta food I think and only use is "Hikari Betta Bio-gold" I have used it for all my fish and they have all lived 2-5 years.
