Is http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wayne-Rooney-c36736 destined to be the next Steve Bruce?
Wayne Rooney has expressed his desire to be a manager once he hangs up his boots for good.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international has revealed that he is studying for his coaching badges in the hopes of becoming the next Sir Alex. In an interview with MUTV, the Manchester United striker said that he would like to start his managerial career with the lower
leagues, make his name and then jump straight into a high-profile job with a Premier League side.
Speaking on his plans, Rooney said, “I would like to be a manager. That would be my ambition when I finish playing. You see the players who have played for Sir Alex and gone on to be good managers. I am hoping to do that one day. I want to learn something
about the lower leagues and build a reputation that way rather than just jumping into a big club. It is not right if someone goes in and gets a big job with no experience. There are managers who have worked for years trying to get that.”
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson admitted that Rooney regularly gives him team-selection tips. However, his advice is usually ignored.
The England international still has a long way to go before he can match Sir Alex’s legendary knowledge of the game. If Rooney does indeed go on to become a manager, he will join the likes of Steve Bruce, Roy Keane and Mark Hughes in the list of former Manchester
United players who took up managerial careers after their playing days.
But for now, Rooney is fully focused on his role as a striker with the Red Devils, saying that he will give it his all to bring the Premier League title back to Old Trafford.
The Manchester United man went on to add that he is not worried about his recent lack of goals. Perhaps the beginning of the new year might prove to be the turning point for Rooney’s season as he looks to end his goal drought against West Brom on Saturday.
