  1. It is actually illegal, but the police dont bother with you, dont push your luck, and you can still get for being a ********!

  2. Its 'legal' throughout the country.

    Officially, the police could take action if someone has more then 5 (or 25, I honestly dont know) grams of the stuff, but I dont know of any cases it was the weed that got someone arrested.

    Actually, you can ask a police officer where the nearest coffeeshop is, and a good guess he will direct you to it :)

  3. The laws for Amsterdam are the same as for the rest of the country and actually weed is not legal in the Netherlands (and so not in Amsterdam either)

    It is merely "tolerated" under agreed conditions which the coffeeshops are bound:

    - no more than five grams per person may be sold in any one transaction;

    - no hard drugs may be sold;

    - drugs may not be advertised;

    - the coffee shop must not cause any nuisance;

    - no drugs may be sold to persons under the age of 18, nor may minors be admitted on the premises.

    Someone else mentioned this and thought that the police just didn't know about it.  When you come to Amsterdam and see the location of the police station in the centre then you will see that they would have to be blind not to see it!  :0)

  4. Amsterdam is the only place I know of

  5. Technically it is not legal, but it is a minor unenforced infraction, much like double parking.  (that is enforced though)

    I have been to Amsterdam, and I lived in Montreal for a while, and Vancouver, etc etc...  Lot's of places are 'safe' to smoke pot.

    I live in the US now, so different story altogether.
