Hiya, I'm looking for a student house in central-ish London with a few friends and are wondering what the Whitechapel area is like

  1. It's the place where Jack the Ripper committed all his crimes, but

I wouldn't say it's a rough place now, it's too close to the City to be allowed to be too rough.

Personally I'd look around Maida Vale though, it's the opposite side of town and 1 million times better and not too expensive either.

Notting Hill is also better than whitechapel, so is Lancaster Gate, opposite Hyde Park, the area is a dream, pay 20 quid a week more and live in the real london, not where the refugees are.

  2. It's a bit of a dive, but it's cheap and it's within an easy commute of the city centre.

There are worse places. There are better places. You're a student, so take what you can.

Worse case scenario, it'd only for a year.

  3. Ah depends a bit on your  origins,   Its a very mixed area  . more non whites  than  anything  , so  it might not be all that  to your liking  Personally y I don't like it.   I worked there at one time  many years ago,   Was a deprived poor area them.  Population has changed ,  mainly Asians  in the area now ,, The cockneys have left   So depends on how you feel about these things ,

  4. if you want to study no .. but if you want to live like a student go for it
