Is Wind Power efficient?

If anybody has some actual good information about wind power, I am doing a report.

  1. Yes, wind power is very efficient, but you have to place turbines where they will collect the wind energy.  If you try to put windmills in cities, you will get no return where you would with solar cells.  

    I am currently in Northeast Iowa where the wind was blowing well today.   Windmills are rated for 5-15 mph wind for their rated average, and anything in excess of 15 mph is making a lot of money for the owner.

    Research the countries along the North Sea, they are making up to 8MW generators out at sea to power their entire country.

    I did a similar report last year, and a if everyone put a few dollars into wind and solar energy, we would be completely energy independent.


  2. yes, the problem is that it isn't always windy. you don't have enough control over it.

  3. It isnt efficient cost wise and uses a lot of land for a relatively low amount of power.
