Is Windhoek City, Namibia a safe place for a white American to visit?

I only speak English & Spanish and just wondering what your opinion is on Windhoek City.

Yes.  It's a decent and usually safe city but it gets weird at night.  

Don't walk around by yourself at night.

Don't carry a big backpack around town even in the daytime if you can avoid it.

If you drive you will be fine 99.9% of the time day or night.  Just be wary of drunk drivers.  They are everywhere.

Stay out of Katatura at night.  Lots of terrible stuff happens down there.  But it's probably OK in the daytime as long as you don't have a big backpack or openly show valuables.  The meat is good there too.

Windhoekians are friendly and nice people.  Just keep your wits about you and you will be fine.
