Yes it is. All of the major professional wrestling companies like WWE, TNA, WCW, ECW (the list goes on) are all fake, Its called "sports entertainment", the matches are pre planed and everyone backstage generally knows what is going to happen and who is going to win. Wrestlers are made champions when they are able to draw in big crowds of people to come and watch the shows so that makes the companies more money. Just because the matches are pre-planed does not mean that the wrestlers do not get hurt. There are times when accidents happen and the wrestlers really do get seriously injured. You can generally tell when someone has really hurt themselves because the commentators do not know what to say and the match is either ends there and then or has a quick finish.

No.  While the matches may be predetermined, what each and every one of those men and women do in that ring is not fake.  They may pull their punches, and they may telegraph moves to protect not only themselves but more importantly, their opponents, but the injuries that many of them suffer from time to time is real.

You can't fake pain when you are dropped from an average of 6 feet onto your back, landing on a platform made of a layer of canvas covering at most an inch of padding, a layer of plywood and an industrial spring.

More importantly, Wrestling is as real as any other television series you watch on TV or play that you see in the theatre.  

It's not a sport, but rather, sports entertainment.

The storylines are fake. WWE has a whole creative team that writes the scripts. The wrestlers are kind of like actors and actresses. They are told what to say and do before they even get to the ring. The matches are all planned. Everyone backstage already knows what is going to happen and who is going to win.

The actual wrestling part is real. The wrestlers have to do their own stunts. The moves that wrestlers perform in and out of the ring are real. When a wrestler slaps his or her opponent on the chest, their doing it for real. These people put their bodies and their careers on the line just so they can entertain the fans. That's why they call it "Sports Entertainment". It takes a few years of training to do what these wrestlers do. If they make a mistake, it can lead to serious injury.

One former WWE superstar by the name of Darren Drozdov suffered a severe neck injury during a match with D'Lo Brown. When Brown went for his signature running powerbomb, he wasn't able to gain a proper grip on Drozdov while Drozdov wasn't able to execute a proper jump to aid in the lifting of the powerbomb. As a result, the move was botched. Drozdov landed on his head, and fractured two disks in his neck. Drozdov underwent hours of surgery to reduce and stabilize the pressure on his injured neck. Even with intensive medical care, his injury left him a quadriplegic. Now he can no longer wrestle.

This is why wrestling moves should never be performed unless you're a professional. WWE always urges its viewers never to to try any of those moves at home.
