Question:

Is Worrying about Global Warming Pointless?

If this is true, why should I be worried about it, I mean before any of the so called really negative effects take place, I'll be dead, so why should I worry about what my future generation has to deal with, the past didn't worry about what we would have to deal with. So why should I?

  1. Worrying about global warming is only pointless from an objective standpoint if it is not a reality.

Worrying about global warming is only pointless from a subjective standpoint if you only care for yourself and nobody or any other living thing. That is if you are fortunate enough to avoid the effects in this lifetime such as famine, droughts, floods, heat waves, economic recessions, depressions or out right collapse.

In short no it is neither pointless on either account. It at best is a short term gain for some in the fossil fuel business, or others for ideological reasons believing otherwise soothes their egos.

Part of what it means to spiritually grow is to start to care about something beyond your immediate self and situation. Looking out for your future situation and that of other generations I guarantee will give you a joy you have yet to know.  But ultimately your motives for doing such should come from a selfless place.

I sincerely wish you health, happiness : ) and enlightenment.

  2. si senor. worrying about global warming is about as pointless as me learning espanol!

  3. Worrying about anything is pointless

but don`t let that stop you from behaving more responsible with our bio resources

and having respect for Nature and all the other earthlings besides humans

And not being wasteful with energy

  4. Worrying is a waste of energy. If you want to do something then do it. (recycle, buy green products etc.)

Global warming is fake. Just another way for government to tax us.

  5. Worrying about global warming(whether natural or man-made) is a waste of time.  That's like worrying about summer in spring.

  6. you should be worried about cooling

  7. Even if its not real we should take this opportunity to clean up the earth, but I believe its a big problem.

  8. the thing is 20,000 yrs ago about 1/3 of the earth was covered with ice...with a few exceptions [ the little ice age in the 1600s] its been warming ever since

  9. Now the scientists are saying that the earth is naturally cooling and we won't see any more warming until about 2015.

I think they're just covering for the fact that their models are wrong.  This way they can say the earth naturally compensated for the global warming and fixed it without our help.

  10. Yes it is pointless. Historically, the human race flourishes in warmer climate.

Notice all the recent deaths and destruction associated with the current cold spell.

  11. It is pointless to worry and as many have said more effective to start a change. I live in Manitoba Canada and I was born and raised in Manitoba. For people to say it is Fake or non exsistent that is just plain ignorance. I am 28 now and when I was a little kid our winters were colder and we had tons of snow and Long winters. Today the snow is pretty much gone by the end of march and summers now start at the end of May. Our storms are getting more severe in the summer time as well in Alberta where at this time of year it should be super warm it was snowing yesterday. Dont give me that sh*t that it doesnt exsist or it is not important people...as far as I am concerned U SHOULD very well be concerned.

  12. Completely a waste of time...  Listen to what 'scientists' were saying 30 years ago:

Indeed. As is the fact that there has been no net warming since 2001. Predictions of environmental doom have been with us for a long time, as the Washington Policy Center reminds us:

•“...civilization will end within 15 or 30 years unless immediate action is taken against problems facing mankind,” biologist George Wald, Harvard University, April 19, 1970.

    • By 1995, “...somewhere between 75 and 85 percent of all the species of living animals will be extinct.” Sen. Gaylord Nelson, quoting Dr. S. Dillon Ripley, Look magazine, April 1970.

    • Because of increased dust, cloud cover and water vapor “...the planet will cool, the water vapor will fall and freeze, and a new Ice Age will be born,” Newsweek magazine, January 26, 1970.

    • The world will be “...eleven degrees colder in the year 2000. This is about twice what it would take to put us into an ice age,” Kenneth Watt, speaking at Swarthmore University, April 19, 1970.

    • “We are in an environmental crisis which threatens the survival of this nation, and of the world as a suitable place of human habitation,” biologist Barry Commoner, University of Washington, writing in the journal Environment, April 1970.

    • “Man must stop pollution and conserve his resources, not merely to enhance existence but to save the race from the intolerable deteriorations and possible extinction,” The New York Times editorial, April 20, 1970.

    • “By 1985, air pollution will have reduced the amount of sunlight reaching earth by one half...” Life magazine, January 1970.

    • “Population will inevitably and completely outstrip whatever small increases in food supplies we make,” Paul Ehrlich, interview in Mademoiselle magazine, April 1970.

    • “...air pollution...is certainly going to take hundreds of thousands of lives in the next few years alone,” Paul Ehrlich, interview in Mademoiselle magazine, April 1970.

    • Ehrlich also predicted that in 1973, 200,000 Americans would die from air pollution, and that by 1980 the life expectancy of Americans would be 42 years.

    • “It is already too late to avoid mass starvation,” Earth Day organizer Denis Hayes, The Living Wilderness, Spring 1970.

    • “By the year 2000...the entire world, with the exception of Western Europe, North America and Australia, will be in famine,” Peter Gunter, North Texas State University, The Living Wilderness, Spring 1970.

Global warming theory has been around for a while; I learned it as a college student in about 1970. But it didn't get much traction then because the Earth was in a deep freeze. Some years later, environmental hysteria focused on global warming rather than cooling because, coincidentally, the climate started to warm.

So, don't waste your time on scare tactics...

Reduce, reuse and recycle, because it's a good thing to do, not because there are laws to make you do it...

  13. globle warming is nuthing to worry about cuz we cant stope it ans even if it is fake ther are like a hundret other things that will kill us if it is not global warming its somthing else basicly what im saying is is that wher pritty much screwed ^-^

  14. THE EFFECTS OF GLOBAL WARMING ARE HAPPENING EVERYDAY, SO YOU MUST HAVE ONE FOOT IN THE GRAVE NOW. WELL YOU CAN EITHER DO LIKE OTHERS==NOTHING ORhttp://www.socyberty.com/Activism/First-... ITS UP TO EACH INDIVIDUAL. MOST IGNORE THIS, BUT WORRYING ABOUT IT IS CRAZY, JUST TAKE IT AS IT COMES.  HAVE A NICE DAY.

  15. Worrying is in general pointless.... but in answer to your question, the issue at hand is really our habits as humans and are we treating this planet with respect.
