I can answer this with a Yes and NO (lol)

If you sign into Yahoo Mobile SMS and send from the PC - To send it is FREE

but to the receiver it is a Text Message Charge- but if the have unlimited and do not need to worry about how many they received or send

The same goes for You .. If you have a Unlimited plan for text messaging- it is only the text message charged by the cell phone company

Yahoo has NO hidden charges

Now you can send from Yahoo Messenger , Mail

Then there is also the other way around - say text messaging is not working for you-ok

(it will use your airtime - but if you have a dataplan you are just fine!)
