  1. yes, ithink that would be just enough for them, something but don;t forget the entertainment!  I had two hamsters in one medium sized cage and they had just about enough space but could use a little more, so im guessing a 10 gallon tank for gerbils which ae smaller would be just fine.

    -hope i helped.

  2. A ten gallon tank is alright, but it can get pretty cramped, especially if you add different things to their tank. I have a 10 gallon tank with a tank topper for my gerbils, and I really wish I could upgrade them to a 15 or 20 gallon tank to give them more space to run and play. Unfortunately, I don't have the room.

If 10 gallons is the only thing you have, it's fine. Have you considered a tank topper? I like the one I have for my gerbils. There's also very little plastic, so I don't need to worry about them chewing on it and swallowing pieces of it. The wire is a bit big and their little feet fall through, but I just put some cardboard down and a grass mat to give them a solid place to sit. Here's the company I got mine from. They're great.

  3. upgrade to a 20 gallon long OR get a "tank topper" for your 10 gallon...gerbils should have aprox 10 gallons EACH!

it wont hurt them to be a little cramped for a few days till you can upgrade them, but they shouldnt be living in that sized tank for the rest of your life...

its essentially like someone putting you and a friend in a 10' x 10' room and leaving you there for weeks with nothing to do...not enough space...

gerbils are VERY active critters, 10 gallons is simply not enough, a tank topper would be the perfect addition giving them digging space below and regular open air space above!  and there not that expensive.

  4. It is okay temporarily.  The problem is, there isn't good ventilation and drainage.  They end up standing in their own mess, or soiled bedding, whichever the case may be.  When you can, maybe invest in a wire cage appropriate for gerbils.  these often have small drop pans which make cleaning the cage a snap!  Also, much better air flow.

  5. That would be pretty small for two of them, they love room.

  6. yeahhh...i wouldent put any more in tho.

  7. Yes it is fine i have two in there i suggest to get a 10 gallon tank topper...mine LOVE it!!!!

    Good Luck

  8. yes it is fine. i have a 10 gallon tank for my 2 gerbils and they love it. but that is the smallest size tank to get. also make sure u have all the supplies and it all fits in the tank and the gerbils have enough room to play, run, sleep, etc.

  9. i was in the store the other day and saw three in there. personally i like a lot of space for them. but it should be ok? but very small.

  10. I guess it would be alright, but gerbils can be territorial so they might fight. I would suggest getting another 10 gallon tank when you can, or 1or 2 cages. Also a tank topper would probably be a lot more fun for them and might prevent fighting. Make sure you watch them and have another cage or tank in case you have to seperate them.
