  1. That's a little light for food. You won't eat very well. Consider lux bus instead of driving. It costs about the same. Also a non-refundable non-changeable flight on Southwest is about $150. The road is a mess.

  2. 20 dollars a day for food isn't much.  There's few places that you can get a meal for under $15.  I mean, there's places out there (check out www.cheapovegas.com) but they're kind of a pain to get to if you're on the strip, and by the sounds of things you're probably not at the heart of the strip with a $30 a night hotel.  I think there's a pretty cheap steak and eggs breakfast (I've heard 3.99) at Imperial Palace.

As for safety tips, the strip is pretty much the safest place you can be as there's always a bunch of people there.  I wouldn't venture far off the strip after dark though.

    Have fun!

  3. You can do Vegas for as cheap as your want, or for as much as you want!  If you want to skimp by and do 5.00 buffets.

I suggest you get your shows at Best Of Vegas as they will have the best seats and the best prices http://www.bestofvegas.com/Shows-Tickets...

then you can also get your hotel there!

    Have fun!

  4. Last time I went to Las Vegas I took 9 gran in cash plus a credit card with me so that I could fuly enjoy all of the attractions that the city has to offer which would not have been possible if I was on a tight budget and had little cash like you.

  5. I think you are probrably going to want to increase your amount by $250 to $500.  If you are frugal you can certainly get by on $1000 and have some left over.  If you want to enjoy the finer parts of vegas and really get into it you better have some extra money.  There are many thing in vegas that require extra money and it is better to have extra than be short.  As far as safety you should be safe if you stay in the strip area.  I suggest you spend the extra $40 for unlimited 3 day access to the Las Vegas Monorail and plan well ahead of time for that.  Also, research ahead for your shows and activites because there is lots to dofor FREE around the strip.  If you go to off the strip things may be cheaper but there is a exponential safety risk.  If you go to the Phanton make sure you take your camera to Madamn Tussauds....it costs some but is full of really wonderful things.  Valet park your car when you get to your hotel and have the valet bring it up for you at the end.  Vegas Strip traffic is a nightmare.

  6. $1,000 divided by four days is $250 per day.  You are going to make it as long as you keep it light on the gambling.

Figure out it you can get half price tickets to the shows you wish to see.  Tickets 2 Nite or Half Price Tickets are on the strip at the Fashion Mall or close to M & M World.  I will assume you will dress up when you go to see the shows so splurge a little on those nights and enjoy a nice meal.  Personally I think the Bellagio buffet is the best in the world.

Enjoy some time at the pool and talk to people to see what they are doing in Vegas.  Get a work out at the fitness center so you can look your best.

  7. Sounds ok

  8. I concur grasshopper you will have enough money. And seriously i would drive to its so much nicer than sitting in a bus and by the time you stuff around in airports its quicker to drive

  9. That sounds like about what I spend each time I go to Vegas once a month.  I always park at the Excalibur and take the Monorail and the Duce Bus to save on gas.  I leave for Vegas on the 6 am flight tomarrow.

  10. You planned this out well. I agree that the food budget is a bit low but only you know how you will eat. Do not forget tipping. Tip the housekeeper, the cocktail waitress who will bring you your drinks while you are gambling, tip the valet for bringing your car ( I do recommend using the valet parking everywhere) just to mention a few.

Just be careful driving in Vegas. The traffic is horrible and the drivers are some of the worse in the US. The use of coupons might now help because most are 2 for 1 but check all of them for reduced pricing.

    Have fun.

  11. Well for one, I want to know where you are staying on the strip for 30$. Thats insanely low. I know some places offer low mid-week rates, but nothing quite that low.

20$ for food is very low. I suppose you could get away with it if you stuck with the buffet, or fast food.

Bottom is that its doable-- but you will have to stick to your budget and not stray. Sometimes that hard in vegas.

  12. This is how we normally break down our trips to Vegas for each person.

Gambling- $100/day (I never use that much but it's nice to have if you want to play table games for a while)

Food- $25/day (one lunch buffet at Carnival World buffet at Rio or Spice Market Buffet at Planet Hollywood will fill you up, then you can just grab a sami from Quiznos later)

Shows- $200 Phantom and Mama Mia

Here is a link that gives you access to cheaper rates on these two shows.  All you have to do is sign up, it is completely free and they don't bug you for anything.

Phantom- full price: $132.20, their price: $82.20

Mama Mia- full price: $110, their price: $49.50- $66.00

    http://www.goldstar.com/events/browse/89...

    Hotel- $30/night for 3 nights      about $100

    Gas- $150

I know you said you wanted to take your car, which is fine for emergencies, but you won't really need to drive it at all while you are there.  You can walk, take the bus, or take the monorail anywhere you need to go on the strip or downtown, and it is completely safe.  The bus is $2 each way or $5 all day, the monorail is $5 one-way or $9 all day.  But the gas for your drive to Vegas would be about $90, with about $30 for transportation in Vegas would put you at $120.

    Entertainment/spending- $50/day

Total you would need based on this formula would be

    $400 + $100 + $200 + $100 + $120 + $200=      $1120

(you could adjust the gambling and spending budget to readjust the number, but you should be good with $1000)

  13. Dont worry you'll win your money back on the slots and end up getting a free trip. Good luck! :)

  14. Smart people charge what they can and pay it off when the credit card arrives.  You probably have enough money BUT you forgot tipping when eating or drinking.

You won't be finding fast food everywhere when you are on the Strip, but eating at a buffet for the big meal of the day really helps fill you and the budget.
