my friend has a 7.1 and it works very well, i just afraid that the 12 megapixels means that it needs to be more steady to get a good picture

  1. u only need 12 MP if you enlarge your pict or c**p your pictures. otherwise 7 MP is plenty.

  2. 12 megapixel means the pic will me out way more clear ..

  3. I have a 7 megapixel Olympus underwater camera and it's photos are nicer than my mom's Sony. However, my 10 megapixel Olympus SLR takes fantastic shots. It really is the quality of the camera. I love the Olympus SLR as they have a shake feature which helps you keep it steadier. It adds for great results.

  4. A 12 megapixel camera is alot better but not really necessary......a 7 megapixel camera takes really good quaility pictures....12 megapixels is probably more expspensive and those cameras are designed more for professinals then someone who is just using it fo fun! hope this helps! ♥♥

  5. The marketing race for "more megapixels" would like us to believe that "more is better". Unfortunately, it's not that simple. The number of pixels is only one of many factors affecting image quality and more pixels is not always better. The quality of a pixel value can be described in terms of geometrical accuracy, color accuracy, dynamic range, noise, and artifacts. The quality of a pixel value depends on the number of photodetectors that were used to determine it, the quality of the lens and sensor combination, the size of the photodiode(s), the quality of the camera components, the level of sophistication of the in-camera imaging processing software, the image file format used to store it, etc. Different sensor and camera designs make different compromises

  6. You can find a good 7 megapixel (mp) camera and a bad 12 mp camera, or you can a bad 7 mp camera, but a really good 12 mp camera. Do yo see where I am going? It's really not the resolution of the camera that determines if the camera is better than another or not. Many factors include the quality of the sensor, the quality of the lens, the digital processor, the camera user interface, functionality, etc..

Make sure you research carefully when buying a camera. Don't let numbers dictate your buying decision. Numbers are really there to sell the camera, because it's easy to market.

  7. Yes and no. There are some 7 mp camera's that are much bettor than some 12 mp camera's. Lens quality, and image procceser size matter just as much. Ever see a pro use a dinky 12mp camera? No becouse there aren't any good image proccesers that small yet so he has to use a larger camera. Camera makers are playing the megapixel wars. It is the thing most non-pros understand. But means less than they realize.

  8. Unless you plan to do very large poster work, a 5 to 7 camera will give you plenty of quality. As the tech. improves, so do the bells and whistles. At least one company now has a 50 mp pro camera out there now, for over $20K !!!. Several things need to be considered. What kind of pictures do you plan to take? What size prints do you normally make? Remember, the more pixels, the longer write time and the fewer images you can get on a card. Then we get into such things as shutter lag time. Several of my friends have DSLR cameras and are always complaining about their time between shots, where as my digital SLR has no more shutter lag than my 35mm film SLR. That is due to the fact that they don't use a mirror to look through the lens.
