  1. Yes. Typically the cable will house a black & red (hot), a white, (neutral), and a bare copper for ground.


  2. I'll give lightpull a B for this. However residentil 220V installed or modified after 1996 is 4 wire by the NEC. Retrofit is only required if the outlet is moved that is why there are still so many house with 3 prong outlets.

  3. 120v  2 wire with ground

    208v  3 wire with ground

    240v volt is used in higher voltages  240/277/480
