Is a 14ft half cabin boat safe for me and my family to travel in??

G,day all, i live near yatala jacobs well area and im thinking of getting a 14ft halfcabin so i can travel from jacobs well to stradbroke island! What im wanting to know is is this a safe kind of boat to do the trip? I dont know a real lot about boats but want to buy something that can do this without to many worries, any advice is appreciated!

P.s If these kind of boats are not up to the task can someone recommend me one that is?

I suppose you could in good conditions but a 14 foot boat isn't very big if conditions get rough. Especially if you have your family with you. If it were me, I'd look for minimum of 18ft. Preferably 21 or more.
