I want to know what kind of schools that I will be able to go. I probably won't make it to some Ivy League schools, but will I at least be able to go to some schools in the top 50? I got a 540 in Critical Reading, a 630 in Math, and a 560 in Writing.

  1. Sounds like you did pretty good to me.

    2007 College-Bound Seniors' Average Scores

    Critical reading: 502

    Mathematics: 515

    Writing: 494

  2. Do not panic!

Do not let a bad score prevent you from applying to your dream colleges!

SAT scores can have a significant impact on getting into the college of your choice. This will not always be the case depending on which colleges you apply to. Some colleges in my state has a policy where as long as you are in the top 10% of your class, then you automatically get in. Also, volunteer activities, leadership, overall GPA, your ESSAY, and interview (if you have one with a college rep) all add up to influence the college decision. This is not to say that a perfect SAT school will get you everywhere. That is so not true! A couple of my friends got perfect SAT and ACT scores and ended up getting rejected from some good universities that were not even IV's!

It really depends on your current grade level. Judging from what you're saying, I will assume that you didn't graduate from highschool this year. If this is the case then you still have time to bring that up:

    - Do tons of practice problems and practice practice practice on those ESSAYS! they count for 180 pts of the overall score!  Writing was the easiest part of the SAT for me because all you have to do is to learn to spot those grammar errors!

    - Maybe consider taking one of those SAT prep classes? Some have some really great tips to bring up your scores.

    - Maybe consider taking the ACT. I had a friend who didn't do so well on the SAT and ended up doing really great on the ACT and colleges like that!

    - Don't worry, do your best. Take more SAT before you apply to college!!! Some colleges take the highest writing, reading, and math scores you get out of all the SAT tests you take and add them up to your advantage so that's always good for you!

    Good Luck!

  3. its okay...not too impressive...take them again. need help with maths...ask me...i'm good. atleast i can help.

  4. oh my jesus... i feel like such an idot looking at all these scores. i would say that you did really good based on my score

  5. That's really pretty good! Listen, the average is around a 1500, and Ivy colleges want a 1800. 1730 is a wonderful score. If you didn't really study, then I recommend you take it again to get a shot at IVY schools.

  6. it is very good score

and plz i want to know how u study and i want to know how to improve my score

  7. 1730 isnt a bad score, its above average...idk about colleges, srry

  8. definetiley i got like 1600 and look at me im in UM miami with almost a masters degree!

  9. You can get into a public school in your state and some private schools. Go to collegeboard.com to look at college's 50% range SAT scores to see which colleges you might have a chance with. I don't think you'll be able to get into a top 50 school with that, but you should check with the webstie just to make sure. Take it again! Good luck!

  10. yeah it's bad

    it's community college for you

  11. no it snot bad

you should apply to top 50 schools

and u should get in easily into the 50-80 range schools

    u should get into

    virginia tech, university of maryland

i would apply to UIUC and some state schools in ur state

my school got 6 students who got into UIUC with only 1600 sats and thats ranked 30 something!!!

as long as you can accept the fact that you wont be getting into the top top top schools like stanfard, university of virginia, johns hopkins you can still do well and u know graduate school or professional school matters so muchh

  12. your sat is good not all that bad but good, never judge anything on the basis of your sat score, first see wht u wnt to do in life thn on the basis of that apply for the college and improve ur sat score......

    all the best

  13. I have seen worse. As long as your grades preceed that then do not worry college's will still have an open heart. On the old sat that would have been good.

  14. i don't think that's too bad.  pretty good, really.

don't forget to take the act as well.   ♥

  15. OMG!!!!! That's terrible!!!

  16. don't feel bad. i made a 1700 both times i took it
