  1. At worst it's a cent, so technically yes!

    Haha if you encounter a hardcore avid coin collector maybe he'll bargain up, but I'm sure the general public/banks will still see it as a penny.

  2. Neither one is very scarce even though they are getting old. One still finds them in change from time to time. It is kind of funny but 1939 is the year my wife was born and 1944 was the year I was born. Yes she married a younger man. It would not hurt to hold onto them for as time passes the value of the coins go up. Right now one can buy them for .05 cents in a dealers wheat cent box, that may not be the case in the future.
