Is a 1996 ford taurus GL a good car to buy?

Very cheap price i have a 2001 taurus and love it!at that price something must be amiss with that car or someone really needs the cash good luck!!

The 3-liter is a pretty good motor, better than the 3.8 in the earlier Tauruses (or is it Tauri?).

It depends upon what part of the country you're in. No rust? Sounds like a deal.

for that price yes.... but you have to know what to look for in sign of problems.. oil leaks would be the worse so make sure you look under it for wet spots and check the tail pipe to see if its black or wet.. if it has either id pass
