Is a 1998 Chev Malibu a good car?

i'm currently looking for a car. in the paper i found one for sale and im just wondering if its a good car to have. im almost 17 and have had licence for almost a year. this would be my first car. check the website to see it:

  1. I agree with the 1st answer as well. It's 10 years old & it's life it nearing it's end. Take a pass on that one. Find a used Nissan Sentra. I remember driving one about 10 years ago & I was very pleased.


  2. I agree with the previous response.  I would stay far, far away from the Chevy Malibu.  While the new ones get good reviews, the old ones have very poor reputations for reliability.  Spend a bit more money on a Honda or Toyota.  You'll be glad that you did.

  3. I would suggest that you look for a good, used Honda or Toyota.  The Malibu has a lot of miles on it, and my experience has been that Hondas and Toyotas fare better with higher miles.

  4. The pre-2004 malibus are not good cars.  After that, they're much improved, but at 17, you probably don't need something that big.  Go for a Corolla or Civic. Both are smaller, more fuel efficient vehicles, but still get good safety ratings.
