  1. Worked at a used car dealership and Troopers were always good sellers. People loved them because seemed to be reliable. Whenever you go on a long trip and car has some miles on it should have it looked over. My gf drives a 99 Isuzu Rodeo that bought from where I worked and has never had any problems with it. Should be great car but just have it looked over any ways.

  2. They are safe and reliable but do your research and make sure that you get as much of the maintenance records for this vehicle because if just the minimum was done then you will be it for some costly repairs.

  3. You really should do research BEFORE you buy!

  4. Very reliable worldwide.  If this is diesel..so much more.

  5. very good car!!! I had 1 for 2 years... impressive in off road!!! (I went where ATV drivers where surprised to see that other kind of vehicles could join them...) be carefull of the weight though, even if the brakes are exceptionnal they cannot do miracles...) it was a V6 3.5L 215hp... powerfull enough for the 2400-3000kg (empty- max charge) without adding too much on the gas bill... as someone said, depending on what was done by the previous owner... I don't know for the diesel version, but for the V6, better to have the timing belt change every 100 000km or 5 years and of course the classic maintenance such as engine oil change every 5 000 km and the transfer case / powertrains oil every 50 000km...

we just had a problem of idle at 215 000km... which was solved with a change of the EGT valve (under the intake manifold) and the airflow regulation system... it is not that uncommon on these engines (the V6 3.2L 195hp on the Troopers before 1998 have the same problem at high km... the parts count for about USdollars200 and the labor... depending in which country you are 500 in western world and a lot less in developping countries...) but not all mechanics know this EGT issue!!!!! (prefer Isuzu dealerships... I know sometimes you have no choice, but just FYI, some friends made the mistake to bring a trooper at Nissan's and they had to call Isuzu after the 3rd time the car came back to the garage, and Nissan didn't know what to do...)

please, don't make the same mistake that make lots of people in buying cheap tires: buy good tires like Michelin or equivalent (depending if a lot of off road or not) and ROTATE them every 15 000km...

Enjoy your wonderfull car!!! and have a nice trip!!!

  6. They're pretty good trucks although models were somewhat top heavy so avoid any quick manuevers/rapid double-lane changes. Have it checked over well before your trip and locate any dealers along your route in case of any breakdowns.
