  1. It would be ok if you're just playing DVDs in surround, but with your gaming systems, spend a little more and get a better home theater in a box.

I wouldn't spend the money on a Bose system, since they're usually over-priced for what you get. Also, I would recommend Best Buy only if you already know exactly what you want, since their sales monkeys aren't that great and will try to sell you stuff you don't need (Monster Cables, anyone?)

Go to a Circuit City or a local electronics retailer that has listening rooms set up. Go through different models and find the one that you want. Also, set yourself a price range so you don't go overkill (I would tell you that you can get pretty much everything you need for $400, tops). And again, don't get a fully-integrated DVD/Surround system, because you won't be happy with it in your setup.

BTW, if you're using a 720p HDTV or a standard-def TV set, go ahead and make sure you have component video cables that'll run from the TV set to the audio system; HDMI doesn't make a difference when you're using a 720p/1080i TV set; if your current TV is 1080p capable or you're planning on getting a 1080p TV in the near future, get a receiver with HDMI switching - video switching is a major ease-of use factor. If using component video or your game systems are attached directly to your TV set, you'll also need a pair of optical audio cables so you can get the 5.1 audio streams from your 360 and PS3 to the surround system, since some TV sets don't pass the digital audio signal through correctly.)

  2. I dont think you'll be satisfied with this weak system. Do you really plan to set the speakers in the ideal place for 5.1. I think it's gonna end up like a hamsters nest buy your TV. For the way this system performs its not worth it. I think you should save a few more hundered bucks and get a Bose Cinemate system. It doesn't have any digital inputs but its clean, easy to set-up, and it'll get the job done. Your must have a audio output though. They run about 499.99 at Best Buy.

  3. 200 Watt is not a lot, but for a bedroom, where you will probably not want to blast the base and blow away the house, it should do.  Remember, those 200 watts are divided through all the channels, so you really are only getting like 34 watts per channel.

  4. eh.. for a bedroom it should be enough.. i have a 700w but hardly use it to the max... but then i have large speakers..

  5. This is a very weak system.  Only 30 watts per channel and a 50 watt passive sub.  Another major limiting factor on it is the fact that it lacks any digital inputs.  The only thing you will be able to enjoy in true surround sound are the DVDs you play through it.  The only two other connections are analog.  Meaning you will only get left and right stereo, not a surround sound experience.

Edit: What kind of gaming system do you have?

Edit:  I would spend a little extra money and invest in a surround system that includes two digital optical inputs.  This will allow you to utilize the true surround capabilities of both gaming systems.
