  1. I have had my freezer on an extesion cord for over10 years.

Just go to the hardware store with the amp or watt input and output and they will know what gauge extension cord for you to use, and if a surge protector power bar is recommneded.

check often when using anextension for over heating.

  2. Had this very freezer. Plugged it directly into the wall, three years, no problems.  A power strip is always a better option than an extension cord. Are you needing it to reach the outlet or using it to prevent power surges? Be forewarned though. The freezer just petered out and died after only three years.  And my mother still has the one she has had for 30 years.  They just don't make things like they used to.

  3. The power strip is probably a good solution except that it is just over the top. All you need to do is plug the freezer in and off it goes. The power strip will make an unnecessary piece of bulk in the room so do not waste your money to buy one. Power surges will not cause a problem to the compressor motor on the freezer as they ar made very robustly and can withstand such problems. There is also surge protector on the motor for really major problems. If you are still bothered then use a £10 surge protector at the point of plugging in.
