  1. There was a similar question to this the other day.. you may want to check out some of the answers.

Basically it's all up to you.  With wrestling and football experience, I'll assume you're in good shape and capable of the physical punishment.  If you're willing to train hard with a proper trainer, then I don't think you're too old at all.  But again, it depends on how badly you want it.

Just some advice.. if you plan to compete, make sure you first find a proper trainer.  Understand that there's a huge difference between fighters and trainers.  Just because Joe Blow opened a training facility and has a record of 40-2 doesn't mean he's a qualified trainer--HIS trainer, however, may be.  On top of that, just because a big name is on the sign of your training facility doesn't mean you're going to be receiving instruction from that person.  Typically, only advanced or serious (high paying) students are allowed to see the "master" or head-trainer of a given facility.  This isn't always the case.. but it can be.  So do your research, find a proper trainer, dig deep, and get 'er done.

  2. I don't see why not. Chuck Liddel is like a million years old(38) and he hasn't been fighting for a really long time.(i dont really know how long). and look up Ariel Gandulla, he's 39 and just started last year.

  3. Randy Couture was 34 when he fought and won his first MMA

bout, he also won the UFC heavyweight belt the same year

which is why they call him the natural. Randy also came from

a world class wrestling background, he regained the HW title at age 44 in 2007.

  4. Of course not. And with your experience you will likely be in good shape to get started.

  5. Nope. You're never too old to start martail arts. It's really easy to pick up and i bet you'll enjoy it! I reccomend Isshynryu (sp?) karate.

  6. Only if you have permanent joint or tendon damage.

  7. Go for it man...we had lots of football guys join our fightclub last summer...

  8. Randy Couture was in his 40's when he became champ!
