  1. 27 is good.

  2. I got a 27 too!

And I am happily enrolled in a great state college (although I was accepted to several private school too, like Puget Sound and MIT).

27 is a good score. Its not THE best (That would be a 36, and I only know 1 person to get a 36).

A bad score would be like a 19

But the most important thing, when it comes down to colleges, is the scoring breakdown. What did you get on math vs. reading, etc.

At my school, your ACT score for math is used to place you in a math class, or waive your math requirement altogether. The same goes for english as well. With a 27 overall, I'm guessing you got about 24 on most of the sections, with some higher. And that is still very good!

Add: to the person below: I didn't get into MIT and then chose Puget Sound over it. I actually chose Utah State University over everything because I am not my dad (MIT alumni and admissions counselor) and I am not majoring in technology so MIT was not a good fit, and Puget Sound wasn't either.

Laugh all you want, but I will gladly mail you a copy of my acceptance letters if you want to try the validity of my statements.

  3. I guess a great score would be a 36?

    ...[since it's the highest ;)]

    but a 27 isn't a "bad" score!

    it's above average! nice job

  4. Goos, not a top school score and if someone actually got into MIT and chose Puget Sound, well, I'm trying to stop laughing......

  5. I would think that's a very good school. Mostly because the majority of the public universities I'm familiar with admit students with at least a score of 21, some prefer 23. Others I know generally admit those with at least a 25.
