Is a 'fish' surfboard right for me???

I've been surfing for a while now just renting out boards and wetsuits and have decided its time to move on and buy one.

I will be mainly surfing the waves in England so were not talking about monster waves...I would say i'm a pretty decent surfer and am looking to get a shorter guise board (around 6'4).

Please tell me what you think, is a fish generally a good type of surfboard? Is it right for the smaller waves? Is there a better board in your opinion based on my circumstances?

Thanks :) Also i kinda want a custom board since I have heard they are better, and in terms of price i dont really wanna go over the £350 mark...

  1. I think it sounds good for you!

  2. a fish board sounds great for what you are looking for. fish boards are thick so they have great boyancy. they paddle like a longboard and perform like a shortboard. i ride a 6'4" shortboard and it suits me well and i am about 5'6". i dont know how big you are but a 6'4" is a good size. im not gonna go out and just say "get this board this size" because that is stupid to do. i suggest to go to a surfshop and talk to the guys there. they will get you the right board and the right equipment for what you are looking for and your experience level. but anyway, fish boards are great. good luck with your new board. hope this helps.
