I'm running XC for the first time this year. I'm 18 years old. I'm a junior. i suffered many injuries last year but still pr'd in the 400 from a 54.4 to a 52.7. this will also be the first year i am going to train for the 400m. I'm usually a 100, 200 meter sprinter.

  1. 49 second is pretty crazy hahaha but if you only strive for the ebst you probbaly can do it.

I ran a 54 my sophmore year and im a distance runner, and the 800 and 400 are my events.

But good luck with the 49 seconds lets hope you dont get injured, put if you alrdy ran a 52, then all you got to do, it just get that 3 seconds, even thought 3 seconds is ALOT in a 400.

  2. Yeah i would say that is within your reach.  The fact that you are thinking about it now suggests that you will train hard.  I dont know how much cross country will help you for those shorter events in track in the spring compared to training for next year now, but its a lot better than a hot dog eating contest circuit

Im getting old and lazy.  When i get myself out for a workout i wonder why i dont feel like i used to.  For a bout two seconds, until i realize im not bringing half the intensity i used to.  For running the 400, bringing it hard in interval workouts will make you successful.  and dont slack off in the weight room.  At age 18, hardly anyone is filled out with enough muscle for their frame

Training for the 4 doesnt necessarily exclude you from the one and two at the high school level. Really youre still developing both speed and endurance so they will all compliment each other.

  3. My coach told me running XC would only help me a little in the 400m. Also if you've been running the 200 you should be at least a little trained for the 400m. Once you start training for the 400m the times will drop quickly, but after that first year it takes a while to drop your time 3-4 seconds.

  4. yes. thats beast
