  1. Never go into debt for something like that.

Get the 1/2 carat, she will enjoy it more if she knows you didnt go into debt for it. Otherwise its going to make her feel guilty and you stressed.

  2. An engagement ring is from the heart, it could be plain gold, ruby, diamond, or plastic. As long as you picked it out with your heart, it doesnt matter

The whole one carret thing is made up by jewellers trying to get more money, and materialistic girls

My fiance and I chose my ring together and brought a 0.3 carret ring. I tried on a THREE carret ring, and I hated it

It is not about the carrets, it is about the promise that is attached to the ring, any girl who feels otherwise is too materialistic

  3. You never want to go into debt that you cant handles, and paying interest, you pay more then what you originally sign for.

What is best for you and what would she want, a big rock and you in debt, or a nice diamond thats paid for?

  4. Half a carot is fine.

  5. DO NOT go into debt!!  Seriously, a .5 carat is an awesome engagement ring!

You should also consider her finger size too, because a 1 carat looks silly on women with fingers that are smaller.  My finger is less than size 4 and when my fiance went to design my ring he had his heart (and budget) set on getting me a .7 carat diamond centre stone.  But when he talked to the jeweler about the size of my finger the jeweler told him not to get anything bigger than a .6 carat because it would look funny on my hand.

So I have a gorgeous .6 carat diamond and because my fingers are small it looks HUGE.  Hy sister have big fingers and her diamond is 1.25 carats and when they are on our hands comparatively they don't look that different.  And when I tried her's on, it looked ridiculous.

Get what you can afford, she will love it.  If you go into debt you will hate it, and she will feel guilty.

    Good Luck and Congrats!

  6. .5ct is fine for a center stone, don't go into debt for a one carat. To make your money go further try to find a ring that has sidestones as well as a .5ct center stone, that way the ring has more to look at than just the diamond, it will distract from the fact that it isn't the world's biggest rock, but all in all most girls don't care about the size of the ring, more that there is a ring at all and you are proposing. Here are some rings with more bang for the buck:

composite tops can be nice too for that bigger look

this ring is nearly half an inch wide, it will be impressive:

  7. Do not go into debt. You could buy the 1/2 carat now, and then upgrade to a bigger one in five -ten years or so. Who knows, she may love the 1/2 carat and may not want to upgrade.

  8. do not go into debt - that compromises both of your futures.

select something in a style she will like & in a price range you can afford.

she is getting married to be with you - not for a ring.

  9. Hello, dont go into debt.Worst thing you can do.She should like whatever you get her.

  10. if she loves you she wont mind.

it depends how materialistic she is.

i wish my fella would ask me i wouldnt give a **** what the ring was like

  11. Mine is a .5 carat and I love it. I think it's the perfect size for me because it's pretty without being too huge and in the way.

I think you should go with what you can afford. Your fiancee should love the ring, at the very least for the sentimental value!

  12. It's the thought that counts.

  13. Half cart to three quarters of a carat would be nice and not too flashy ring.

Try here http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rin... where you can get very high quality rings for 30%-40% less than what you would pay at the mall jewelers.

  14. That's fine, as long as you think she'll love it, which she probably will.

It's not worth going into debt over.

  15. That's fine. You should start your married life with less debts as possible

  16. What your future finance will see when you show her the ring is that you love her and you want to spend forever with her.  Whether the ring is .5 karat or 3 karats.... its your commitment that is important.

If you want to add a little sparkle to the engagement ring - think about adding a diamond wedding band to complete the look (and add some Karat weight).

    Good Luck!

PS - My engagement ring is 1.5 karats total, but my center diamond is .5 Karat and I LOVE IT!  :)

  17. That's plenty - and no, don't go into debt - that's a dumb way to start a marriage. There are lots of beautiful, modest rings out there -

Or think about getting a set -

  18. as a woman i will tell you...what u do is pick out a ring that you think she would like..

no you shouldnt go into debt buying a ring because its the heart that goes into the ring not the money...if shes not superficial then she will love you no matter how much the ring costs...
