  1. Yea 5:51 is a good time to start at, or a good time to work with. There's always a lot of room for improvement. With work, and a little bit of effort you could probably be running in the 5:20's. To win, it would depend on what grade you're in. Middleschool that's a great time to start at. Highschool, its a little harder and takes more work

  2. well how old are you?? girl or guy?? girl-yes guy-just drop your time a little and yea you can could do u got some speed.

  3. if you are able to shave 21 seconds off your time, you'll probably win!!!

  4. If you are an untrained athlete, and I assume you are because you have not been in track, a 5:51 is exceptional, and yes, you should be in track and cross country — I don't care if you are a freshman or a senior.

An untrained athlete who can break 6:00 in the mile has a rare gift.

On the other hand, if you excel at soccer or competitive swimming, that would explain your great physical conditioning. In that case, your 5:51 mile doesn't tell me as much. But it is still a very good starting point.

  5. Well since im assuming you dont do track already, 5:51 is a good mile time. I just completed my first season and my time is 5:33 which is concidered poor. But as long as you are seeded correctly then you should do just time. I recommend running 2 miles every day starting at 15 minutes. Each time you do another 2 miles take off 5 seconds from your goal time. For example: 15.00, 14.55, 14.50 and so on. If you follow this plan then you should do just fine. It is not hard to take time off your mile when you first start. I started with a time of 6.10 this season so I took off a total of 37 seconds. Good Luck!

  6. Depends on how old you are. If that's middle school, you'll do great! High school... might want to speed it up... I run 5min 15 sec as a freshman and get my a$% kicked by seniors.
