Is a 6'6 fiberglass surfboard to small to learn on?

my friends sellin a board 6'6 and its 200 australian dollars

i plan on havin a few lessons b4 buyin it

is it going to be to small and if so which problems will i have

is the value good (sopposed to be a pretty good board)

I stood up first wave teaching myself on a 5'8 a thin fibreglass surfing in 3 footers   but apparently from my physio i have amazing balance and stability!

i dont think it would be to small at alll.

and see if he can budge his price a little $200 for a second hander! NO WAY

If there's no dings in it, and it's not too heavy, it's a bloody good deal.First, how much do you weigh? 60-70kgs and the board's not bad to start on.

If you weigh 80kgs or over you'll want to wait a few months before taking it out maybe...

Tell the width and thickness. Over 19'' and 2 3/4 or 3'' thick, and its a pretty buoynt board (easier for beginners-to paddle on and float on the wave....)

I f you live in Oz and plan on surfing a fair bit then buy it.....you'll master it sooner or later and be glad to have it.

After a few years of surfing it's good to have 2 or 3 surfboards anyway (minimum)

A new board's around 600$.....!!.

It's doable, but longer boards make learning much simpler. I learned on a 10 foot board in about 30 minutes, and the guy who taught me said that I should't get on anything under 8ft. for the rest of the trip. Also, you can ride smaller waves with a more buoyant board, giving you more opportunities to learn.

it depends on ur hieght if it will be too small u will have truble staying on and u will fall

Not necessarily but I'd recommend a "tanker" for learning.  When you get more experience and control under you, then go for the smaller boards.

yes it is too small. a 9'0 would be best to learn on.

you should still buy the board. one can neva have too many boards!
