  1. I never disagree with Wiggy, but I'm going to today.

No, it's not too big.  If you're that tall, and weigh that much, then your feet can touch the ground and you'll be able to pick it up when you drop it.

I learned to ride on a Gold Wing.  My first bike was a KZ900.  If you have respect for the machine that you're riding, and understand that the people in cars are idiots that are more concerned about their cell phone conversation or eyeshadow than killing you, then you'll be fine.

  2. I think a 600 should be fine for your size.  Just make sure you are comfortable on it and willing to take time to learn some skills before going for the speed.

  3. Depends on the bike. Its not the capacity that gets you in trouble. You would manage the weight of most 600s ok. Full-on sports bikes not so good around town , bum in the air and all the weight on your wrists. You want something that is going to let you gain experience, that handles predictably and smoothly, a lot of modern bikes are going to feel quick enough to start with. What about a Suzuki 650?

  4. yep.

    far too big.

try a 125 two stroke or a 400 four stroke MAX.

  5. It is WAY to big for a beginner, at least more than you need.

That said, you need to decide what you are wanting the bike for. For city riding and better fuel economy, get something smaller. For highway use or bragging rights, get something that size or bigger.

If you have good riding skills and balance, you won't have any problem with a bigger bike. Just don't let a big bike lean too far to the side, or you'll be picking it up with wounded pride.

Go try out some smaller bikes first to see if they  will meet your needs. If so, stick with the smallest bike that you will be happy with.

    Happy riding!
