Is a 7-8 foot surfboard considered a shortboard or a hybrid?

my board is about 7-8 feet and has a pointed nose. made by haut. what would u classify it under?

Hybrid, shotboard would be between 5-6 feet

The following was taken from a wikipedia article on surf boards:

"Longboards as the name suggests are longer (often eight or more feet), and are also thicker and wider with a more rounded nose than a shortboard. Shortboards are shorter (5–7ft), thinner, and have a more pointed nose." ... "Modern hybrid boards are usually 6–8 ft 6 in (1.8–2.3 m) in length with a more rounded profile and tail shape"

So, from the length and the pointed nose that I would have to say that it is more likely a short board.

depending on the width of the board - if its narrow it would be classed a mini gun (big wave board) if it a little wider, looks like a normal short board, but bigger, we call it a big guy short board. hybrids are generally a little rounder in the nose.
