Is a 7 foot boat with this motor: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=4016522

Good for a trip from a port in Texas (closest to Sulphur, Oklahoma) to the Potomac River if I go around the coastline of USA? We plan on going on a trip to visit some family in West Virginia.

  1. Why don't you just get a row boat or canoe? Do you really want to trust your life to a 7-foot boat and take a 1400 mile trip in it? Where you do think you can charge up the battery every few miles?

I suggest that you re-think this.

    Regards,

    Dan

  2. take the bus.  really a bad plan. you had better look at a map cause i dont think you have a clue as to where you are going.

  3. I wouldn't recommend it. you will need to recharge batteries and I am not sure it would be very safe.

You might consider a sea kayak. you can even get a sail for it.

  4. As long as the boat and motor are on a trailer behind your vehicle you should have no problems.

  5. Starting at Beaumont/Port Arthur at 8am, when your battery is fully drained at noon, you will not yet have reached the Louisiana border.  You'll need 5 or 6 hours to recharge the battery before continuing.  The first mild thunderstorm will blow you back to Beaumont if it doesn't swamp your boat, if you haven't already capsized in the first shrimp boat wake you encounter.
