Well, it wasn't the actual ASVAB, it was the practice test in the Navy office. I wanted to go into linguistics if I could.

good luck! and make us proud wherever you go!

  4. Yes.

  5. i took it today also at the navy recruiting office while my enlisted recruiter was talking to an officer recruiter for me.

i got a 94. as i was leaving with the officer recruitment contact info, the other recruiter told me the average he normally sees is mid 40's.

so 73 is dang good mate.

    good luck.

  6. yes, 73 is very good. you only need about a 32 to get in. a 73 will allow you to do practically anything you want.

  7. yes it is. You may not be a genius but you did better than 73 percent of applicants. try the ASVB. Despite what the recruiter says, you can take it again and do better, The better you do, the more you have in bargaining chips. Just think of it as, they need you more than you need them. Look into options and then pick the best one. Don't let them dictate what you will do. With scores like that you qualify most jobs, except nuke tech and certain intelligence jobs. Same deal in the Corps. So take the real test and talk to all branches. To be honest, you may never see your recruiter again after boot. So, don't feel like you are obligated to them. A 73 is not bad at all.

  8. i was in the same situation. i talked to a Marine recruiter and was not interested in joining. then told him i was going to talk to the navy. he called the navy office, set me up an appointment time and took me to see them. he left, they gave me the practice test. i made an 89. then they spent 3 hours talking about why i should not join the Marines. i was disgusted with that. well to make a long story short, i joined the Marines making an 89 on the actual ASVAB. so do yourself a favor and talk to your nearet Marine recruiter. you will see things differently
