  1. What is the heat pad for?  Is it for a reptile.  I always hear that it's best not to use those and to just use a heating lamp because heating pads tend to malfunctions and the reptile can really injure themselves.  I personally have always used a heating lamp for my water dragon that I've had for the past 10 yrs and he seems happy with it.

  2. If it's for a reptile than just get a heat lamp. And I would use a heat lamp/UVB bulb(combined) just to be on the safe side. I know that people say that since allot of reptiles are nocturnal they don't need UVB but they might have metabolic bone disease which is a bone deficiency and over time their bones will become unable to support their bodies and they will die. I would use it just to be on the safe side. I hope that I helped!
