I am getting a new 2008 auto and have upgraded the stereo in the car with a Sony Audiophile stereo. Are these kind of stereos any better then a stock type stereo? and why?

  1. I wouldn't suggest paying for the dealership's "premium" speaker systems. They are usually garbage, that are only marginally better for alot of extra money.

In most cases, the cheapest after market speakers money can buy are far better than the most expensive stock/dealership speakers.

I would defiantly suggest after market speakers. They are cheaper, and better. Anything a dealership sells you is a rip off for the most part.

  2. yeah, basically the upgraded audio is usually better than the standard audio that comes in the vehicle. If you dont plan on upgrading or adding or replacing any speakers this is your best option. If you are thinking of upgrading your speakers, adding a sub or replacing anything like that, you will have a harder time as these components are specifically designed to work with each other and dont work well with aftermarket equipment. It can get pretty costly.

So your answer is yes. It does sound and look alot better than the stock equipment, but if you do plan on getting an aftermarket system at any point, i would not go with the upgrade.
