  1. It's the right thing to do, don't support an asian economy

not my style of riding personally, but i know the engines well, and they are very good drivetrains with lots of low end grunt... you have a different feel out of these bikes than the asians... no need for 12,000 rpm, you have ample power at low rpm where the japp junk can hardly even make itself move

  2. I have an '02 Buell Cyclone. It's a great bike. I have owned more than 20 motorcycles, and this one ranks up there among my favorites. When I ride with a mixed group of crotch rockets, I never fall behind except in the extremely rare top speed runs, but I think it's dumb to push like that on the street anyway and there are plenty of guys who back off before I do. For the street, a Buell has more than enough power.  99 percent of the riders out there can't use what their bikes offer anyway, so all the arguments over who's bike can beat who's are usually a joke. All that bragging goes away when they actually have to ride the bikes and not just talk about them.

There is also one of the coolest groups of people who ride them. If you really want to find out about Buell, go to that link the other poster put there.

You will get more information than you even thought existed, and you could probably even find people to ride with.

    Good luck.

  3. Why buy a Buell?  I am highly biased, I own 3.  Still the most fun per mile of any motorcycle I hagve ever driven.  A great street bike, with an attitude, just sitting still.

People that just really don't even like motorcycles immediately turn their heads and comment about the throaty growl of a Buell.

It's not the fastest racer x out there, but in the twisties, Buell's run very well.

Still, for me, Buell's 0-100 MPH is very quick, and that's enough for me.  Buell's are highly competitive in the 1/8 mile.  They run out of gearing for a 1/4 mile.

Check out buelletinboard.com and badweatherbikers.com for additional Buell info...

  4. The Buell was designed by Eric Buell to compete against Ducati and others in road racing. He did so well with them that Harley bought him out. They use a Sportster motor, which is a pretty bullet-proof affair in it's current form. The Blast uses the front half of an 1100 cc Sportster motor, resulting in less power, more vibration, and many victories in the 500cc class. Anybody who tells you that the Harley Sportster engine is junk should google the name Chris Carr. He has taken top honors in flat track / dirt track on the 1 mile oval with them for years.

  5. love mine

  6. I took the Harley Davidson Rider's Edge course on a Buell Blast.  I hated that bike.  The clutch was not friendly for smaller hands and it rattled like bb in a boxcar.

Perhaps the other models are better.

  7. There is a chance the new one with the Rotax engine is a good bike.  But the old ones just don't stack up to other sport bikes.  They were powered by air cooled Harley v-twins....real c**p and at a fairly high price.  The little one powered by a lawn mower engine is nicknamed the BeLast.  Except for the possible exception of the new one buells are  bikes for people who really don't know bikes.

    XB12S  1200cc 85hp 0-100 8.73

    Suzuki GSR-R600  100HP  0-100 6.53

Dosn't even stack up to a bike half it's size.  Nuff said.

Freak Show....While it is true that hardly anyone needs or uses the full capability of their sportbike.  Performance is how we measure the reletive quality and efficiency of competing machines.  If you are talking chainsaws, lawnmowers or motorcycles it is illogical to pay more money for a machine that is capable of less.

  8. I just bought one a month ago, it's a XB9SX, I have been riding on the road for about 15 years, and have owned just about every kind of bike.

I like the handling it is very well balanced, it has good torque through out all RPM ranges, top end I'm not very impressed it will hit 130mph but it's just about red lined, I don't need to go that fast or faster for that matter but it's cool to be able to brag. Zero to 60 is about 1.6 sec. and you can tell. Over all I enjoy it, although I'm thinking of trading it in for the XB12SX, I'd like a little more torque (can never have to much).

Don't plan on out running a GSXR top end, but I think on a straight shot for the first mile you'll keep up, but wave goodbye at 130mph.

On the other hand on a nice curvy road the GSXR will be the one waving....I guess it's all whatever floats your boat, or blows your skirt up.  :)
