I want to start a Zine about my community and I want to be a bit ecological friendly. I was thinking of using Disc instead of paper because I thought it would be less wasteful and more cost efficient. SO, is using a disc more wasteful than paper?

  1. I am not sure this is a good idea. Paper is more easily recyclable than plastic - plus CDs require special recycling which are more energy-intensive and costly. If you really want your magazine to be sustainable, it's better to have it online. Usually, e-zines start by printing hard copies and once they have established readers, they go online. Good luck!

  2. Well, lets see...Discs are made out of plastic, whereas paper is made out of trees. Sure you can erase pencil from paper a couple of times, and recycle paper, but eventually the paper gets worn out to nothing useful. The disc (if you have a CD-RW) can be reused and reused until it is too scratched to clean and use again, then it can be recycled, and not cause any major (or even minor) damage to the economy, or planet.

  3. Paper would be more wasteful, it gets bulky and clutters.  And colored paper is not Eco-friendly.  You can do more with Cd's, and they don't take up much space.  and as long as you trash it with all your other plastics, it can also be recycled.
