Is a Certificate in Adult Literacy Level 2 the equivalent to a C and above grade in GCSE English?

I have this Certificate with learndirect and was told that it was the adult equivalent to GCSEs but not what grade and would like to know if it is the equivalent of a C and above grade in GCSE English? Anyone that has any information or has completed the same course your answers are welcome

  1. They tell you these things but its not true.  What the certificate does however is prove that you are literate which is what the potential employer wants to know so I think it is just as useful.


  2. I have a friend who recently completed his level 2. He needed it in order to apply for a job that required written reporting.

    I'm not sure if it's specifically equivilant to a GCSE grade C, but it gives you the necessary clearance for applications that require a GCSE grade C for you to enter.
