Is a Facsimile machine dangerous in any way?

Funnily enough,  Yes. When you receive a fax or photocopy something it has a strange smell. This is a chemical in the toner that you should not be inhaling, it is toxic and for this reason it should have good ventilation around it. They can release Ozone - nitropyrenes - trinitrofluorine they can also release polystyrene acrylic powder. All of these thing can cause allergic reactions and in strong doses can be fatal. Another hazard exists if you come into eye contact with the laser, it is only low powered however can cause permanent eye damage. Another hazard, may be electrocution. The human heart will stop around 200ma of current, a power point can produced around 200 Amps from a dead short (Like your fingers) for a fraction of a second  (Until the fuse/rcd/circuit breaker) kicks in. 200ma is 1000 times less than what can be supplied, do the math you can absord 1000 times more current than what you can handle, so you die.

Dangerous could be defined in a couple of ways in this context.

Whether it harmful to health such as harmful substances on contact or emission , or when repairing a fax might incur injury, electrocution, cuts.

Or accidentally faxing vital information to the wrong number.  Which I would say is rare and stupid, but hey it is a possibility and it could cost you dearly.

Vital identification information, financial details etc.

Though it could be a creative question and what you define as dangerous.
