My birthday is coming up and i went to a go-cart and place last year but i want to do something new. If you don't like golf please dont answer this question. I was thinking about having a party where i have 3 teams of 3 guys each and we would play a scramble tournament at a really nice course. Does it sound fun to you?

  1. ya but how bout a wiffleball tournament  hope i helped

  2. That is a unique idea. Hope you can get starting times and that the guys you invite know the etiquette of the game and have some skill.

  3. Sure, sounds like a great idea.  Just make sure you call somewhere in advance if you need to book a few times together.  Remember, the more golfers u have, the more you can bargain w/ the course for discounts on range balls, food, drink, etc.

And some courses have websites that give you a free round of golf on your birthday if you sign up for their free e-mail club/newsletter.  It's worth calling around and looking into.

If you have any other ?'s, please feel free to visit my website to contact me - www.freewebs.com/egolf.

    Thx!

There are also numerous side bets or skill holes you could have.  You could even do a modified form of a Bridgeman format, where everyone plays for their own score.  On the first 6 holes, the best score counts.  On the next 6, take the two best scores, and on the last 6 holes, all three scores count (this is generally done w/ 4 player teams, where on holes 13-17, the best 3 scores count, and everyone's score counts on #18).

  4. I did something similar to that for a friend before his wedding.  We started out at his favorite course and played two rounds.  Afterwards we ate at the club house before heading out for the night.

It was a nice afternoon, we had a nice buffet aftwards.  i would recommend that you pick a good place to eat and get snacks for the course.

  5. its a brilliant fun idea i would love to do that and probably will do 1 of those would be quite expensive but who cares its a birthday party make sure no 1 cheats :p

  6. haha, i would LOVE it, but i really enjoy golfing, and in scrambles there is a lot less pressure, it's just an all around good time in my opinion, i'd say do it as long as your friends somewhat enjoy golf as well and have some clubs

  7. i think it sounds really cool. but who would play, would some people feel left out like ure mom and wife, and who would pay for it all.  if u fix those problems it would be really awsome. i think u just gave me an idea for my birthday coming up in september.

  8. That sounds like a great idea assuming that everyone enjoys golf. Scrambles make for a relaxing and fun round of golf.

I recommend you talk to the course about what you want to do. Get 3 tee times back to back to back for your groups and ask if its okay to play alone. Many courses will want to add a single to a group of 3 to make a full four-some.

The great thing about this format would be that if somebody can't make it at the last minute, you just change to 2 groups of 4, and if you want to add somebody at the last minute, you can just start making it teams of 4.

It sounds like a great party. Don't forget to arrange a place to have dinner after the round so you can all brag about who won. You could also do something like a closest to pin contest on one of the par 3 holes or a longest drive contest on one of the par 5 holes.

  9. Thats a great idea. I'm 13 and I did that last year at a local country club and it was a great idea. Everybody had such a great time. Do it, you won't regret.
