Is a Green Chili Pepper the exact same thing as a Jalapeno Pepper?

I like the flavor of a green chili's because it's mild and I would love the flavor of a Jalapeno if it wasn't so hot. Doesn't go well with my stomach. So to make the Jalapeno mild, you take out the seeds and it becomes a green chili??? Please explain. Thanks.

**I would have looked it up myself, but decided I wanted to ask you all on here.

  1. To make the jalapeno mild you need to remove the seeds and the veins, which is the white part. A jalapeno and green chili are not the same thing. You cannot make jalapenos into green chilis. Green chilies are longer and bigger than jalapenos and they have two different flavors and are two different plants. Just experiment with them in your recipes. Make some stew with mild jalapenos but I wouldn't recommend enchiladas. That doesn't sound right. Have fun. Eat tortillas or bread with your green chili or jalapeno meal and it will be a little easier on your stomach too.

  2. most people think the heat is in the seeds they are half way right the heat of pepper is actually in the veins that run along the seeds to if you take a knife and carefully cut out the veins of the pepper you remove the heat of the pepper also

  3. The heat of the jalapeno is in the seeds so if you take out the seeds it wont be so hot. I don't think they are the same thing though
