  1. No, blue ray's the best DVD player available...HD's will be out soon.

  2. Blu-ray-dvd is much better than hd-dvd the resolution quality is very noticeable.

Blu-ray will win the so called war, hd-dvd is the new betamax.

A comment from a popular site

"That's all for HD-DVD Folks - Warner Bros goes to Blu-ray exclusive

Warner Bros has today announced that it will exclusively release high definition content on the Blu-ray medium and will avoid publishing content on the rival HD DVD format. Warner Bros represents about 20 percent of DVD sales in the US market and believe that the it's about time all the confusion ended and they just settled for being exclusive on Blu-ray"

  3. Like one user said, unless you have a large TV (over 42'') you really wont notice a difference between HD and Blu-ray. Ive also heard the reliability arguments between triple and dual layer. Dont bother yourself with that stuff. In my opinion Blu-Ray players are not worth it for the price you will pay. HD players are still your best bet.

  4. HD DVD was and is a better player simply because it is built against a stable finalized standard. But it's a moot point. The war is over except for the shouting (Warner are going Blu-ray exclusive in May).

The real question is whether you can take advantage of HD disks ?

If you have less than a 40" 720p HDTV you won't get much improvement over a DVD on a good upconverting player. Maybe now is the time to grab a HD DVD player for $180 from Amazon (with 10 free HD DVD disks) ... since they make good upconverting DVD players.

  5. hehe , heck no , BLU RAY is far better than Hd-DVD

  6. personally, i prefer bluray. the films i like come out on blurays usually. hddvd just isnt for me. bluray can go upto 50gb. hddvd can now go upto 51gb, but this invloves using triple layer technology, wich im toldi is less reliable than blurays dual layer also, triple layer costs more to produce and not all hddvd players can readtriple layer hddvds. wereas all blurays can read dual layer. dual layer hddvds cant store tht much compared to bd also.

  7. HD-DVD and Blu-ray are the "Coke and Pepsi" of HD discs.  They offer pretty much the same audio and video quality.  But Warner Bros. said it best on Friday:

“A two-format landscape has led to consumer confusion and indifference toward high definition, which has kept the technology from reaching mass adoption and becoming the important revenue stream that it can be for the industry."

The format war ended January 4, 2008.  But waiting to purchase your Blu-ray Disc player will only result in better technology and lower prices for you.  God bless.

  8. Who cares, all you are doing is supporting consumerism, what is wrong with DVD nothing! in 2 or 3 years time they will try to sell you something else that was probably discovered 5 years ago and you will go buy it like the good little consumer you are. SORRY but that's the truth of it.
