Is a Halloween Wedding on a Friday a bad idea?

We have an Oct 31 2008 wedding and it's at 4 pm or maybe 6pm, and we're a little concerned this may be bad day, but it's the best day for us.What do you think? It wouldn't be a spooky theme and if there are kids there we're going to provide a really awesome basket for each of them? What are the thoughts on this?

  1. Unique.

People will remember unique one and tell others about it.

Perhaps your friend or others will do the same as you will.

    Have a great wedding.Congrats.

  2. It may not be the greatest idea. Think about how many of your guests will be able to attend, especially if they have children that look forward to trick-or-treating.

  3. I love Halloween!!!  I would love to go to a wedding on Halloween!!  Our wedding was on a Thursday and everyone invited came, so I see no problem for a Friday wedding. Go for it!!

  4. i don't know why people are saying that its selfish to schedule  your wedding on halloween...  i'm getting married on halloween next year and ive gotten nothing but praise for it.  people think its a fun idea, especially because the older you get, halloween isn't such a big deal anymore, so it kinda puts a nice spin on halloween for a year.

people who would be pissed because they "have to go to a wedding on halloween" are selfish for thinking that would be horrible.  i mean, really, if youre in your twenties and still planning on making a big deal out of halloween-maybe its time to grow up...?  that's just me.  could dressing up really be more fun than a wedding?  seriously.

i would make the wedding later, at 6.  that way, if there are kids there, they can still get in some trick or treating after school!!!  if its best for you then i would definitely go for it!!!

  5. I think it's great and sounds like a lot of fun.

  6. Honestly, since Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, I would be so ticked if my friends did that. Halloween rarely falls on a weekend and when it does, you're making your friends go to a wedding. Oh, and it's not even a themed wedding (which, if I got invited to one of those I think it would be awesome)!!!! Even if you give out baskets of candy to the kids, it doesn't replace the trick-or-treat experience.

Really, I just think that Holiday weddings in general are selfish and annoying.

NOTE: Camera-Ready, she's saying that it's still going to be the same ol' wedding, just on Halloween. If it was a theme wedding, then I'd be all for it too.

  7. I'd do some sort of Halloween-ish theme, even if you don't go the spooky route. I certainly wouldn't have a problem with it.  It beats the 8/8/08 that I have to attend next week...lol

  8. GO FOR IT!!! I am getting married October 31, 2009. Our theme is 'victorian/gothic/vampire-ish! Lots of candles, deep red roses everywhere, and...low-lying fog. The pastor has approved it! We are requesting that guests dress in their best gothic/vampire garb, and come ready to party after the wedding. I'm even thinking of setting up a trick-or-treat 'bar' with lots of candy, little novelties, and a red 'blood' punch fountain.

It's your wedding, you have it when you want, however you want. Just have a great party planned afterwards!

  9. I personally, would deliberately schedule my wedding for Halloween, but it appears that that was not your intent.

However, as long as you and your fiance' are comfortable with it, then surely there shouldn't be any issues. Don't let superstition interfere with the happiest day of your life! (By the way, the baskets for the children seem like a splendid idea. It would be a unique experience for all of the guests as well.)

Best of luck to you and your decision,

    H. Helix

  10. I think this is a great idea! Having it on Oct. 31st AND a Friday totally goes with the theme. I love your ideas for the kids, too.

  11. I've seen this done once before & I think it's a great idea. It won't be the same floral center pieces w/candles, & colorful bridesmaids dresses.(HALLOWEEN IS NOT A NATIONAL HOLIDAY) don't know why that person said that?

I think you should go for it!!!Good luck, & congrats!!!

  12. If you're doing it on that day, you should make it themed.  It's kinda lame to have a regular old wedding on a holiday.  Also for kids it's not just the candy, it's the experience of dressing up in a costume and going to parties and things, the folks with kids would probably be upset.

  13. I LOVE IT!  I think it would be a great day and you would have fun celebrating it every year.  Wow! You could really have fun with it.  Can I plan it and come to it ?  LOL

  14. No holiday weddings period.

Always a bad idea.  I don't care if it's St. Patty's day, the fourth of July, or Labor day.

Holiday weddings are a horrible idea.

Edit** Camera...I also said that St. Patty's day is a bad idea...last time I checked that wasn't a National holiday.

Also,  do you really want to put people drinking out on the roads when kids might be running around late at night...Yea, not a good idea.

I think any and all holiday weddings are a bad idea because it presumes that your guests have no lives of their own.
