I have a 91  civic lx and I wouldn't change it for anything!.

I think it's about 24 (city) 27 or close to 30 (highway)!..

The only thing I complaint about is the AC, it broke and changed from r-12 to r-134, and the compressor broke again, but it won't cool with r-134 like it was with r-12, so I'm not fixing it anymore!..

But handles very smoothly!..Go check www.carsurvey.org and look in Hondas!..They have reviwes for all the cars in the market (europeans, russians, americans, etc!..

They can be depending on the year. if you want to get something with really good gas mileage, look into 1988-1991 honda crx hf, hf is the trim, or a 1992-1995 honda civic hatchback vx, vx is the trim. That's if you're willing to sacrifice modern for old, if you want something modern, you're better off buying a honda civic hybrid, retails around 22,000-24000. somewhere around there. the crx hf and the civic hatchback vx both get around 43 combined.  Sourced from fueleconomy.gov this isn't epa estimates, actually based on real life driving.
