Is a K&N air filter worth the money? Is it so much better then just a regular air filter that you would spend that much more? Also do you actualy gain hp with them like they say or do you just not lose them from the origional factory settings?

  1. If u are driving an auto car, u will feel the gain in power and respone instantly. For munual car u dont feel it. K&N filters are good cause it gives u more mileage (for both auto and munual)  and save your money and a good long term investment. Just buy K&N filter and it covers the rest of replacement of paper filters.

The only part that its a hasel its when you do the cleaning. Well... theres always the first time where you over oiled the filter. After a few more cleaning, you will get use to it. Its worth the money to had a K&N filter.

    Cheerz

  2. Filters like the K&N filters will save you money. They may cost more to buy, but they last much longer as you can simply clean them off and reuse them. They also increase the preformance and efficiency of the engine, thus increasing your fuel economy and power. You do gain power but it won't be more than 10 hp or so. If you check the K&N website they will give you the hp gain

  3. They get (little bit) better performance by doing LESS filtering.  In another words, they are WORSE air filters (for filtering purposes).

No, I don't think they are worth it.  You might as well drive with no filter to get the max performance.

    Good Luck...

  4. You'll gain power if the factory filter or intake system being replaced is restrictive. You'll also gain a filter that you have to buy a filter cleaning kit every so often for and you'll have to spend your time cleaning it. I threw away the K&N that was in my truck not too long ago and went back to paper, I have better things to do than clean the thing. The big power gains claimed with K&N are for complete intake kits and you should be able to find the power specs for your car on their web site or from someone selling K&N.

  5. I find on a daily street driver they don't seem to help that much ,but on extreem dirty situations (like off roading at the river or at the dirt track) they do well espacialy with a prefilter(foam filter) and lots of oil in them.

It also depinds upon the filter being replaced (ie. frams aren't so good at hi airflow) and many cheap filters aren't so good.

  6. YES. I OWN 4 CARS AND 5 K&N FILTERS....

  7. results for drop in K/N replacement filter, not the intake kit for 2001 Dakota V6 2WD,

    before K/N

    MPG-16-19

    After K/N

MPG- 18-22, noticed slight increase in power overall, noticed larger increase after switching to flowmaster mufflers and picked up MPG to 19-24. cleaning kit is 10.00 cleans this size filter four times.

  8. yes the K&N systems work well i got one on my 01 model ram and i gained about 12-15 horse power overall on it,it runs a whole lot better but it didnt help me on gas mileage any that i can tell yet.,i have only used it for about a month,so time will tell if i get more miles, but i did gain on power, that part is very noticeable, good luck.

  9. They do work, you instantly feel the power gain after putting it in.

But if there a bit costly for you i recommend you get it off this website:

    http://www.performanceautoparts.co.uk/k&...

I think thats the cheapest place you can get it from without anything going wrong.

  10. K&N, filters, if purchased early enough cost the same as all the filters that you will go through in the life of the vehicle.  However, if you have carbuerated intake, the K&N helps alot!  I got better gas milage from my motorcycles.  Im planning to buy one for my car.
