Question:

Is a Kawasaki Mean Strek a good first bike?

I found a Mean Streak for a really good price. I was/am looking at it for my first bike. I will take the MSF course before I ride and, being military, will always have full safety gear on as I am required to. Honest opinions are appreciated.

  1. the Kawasaki Mean Streak is very slow and heavy, its an outdated, old school design

the older Suzuki M95 is the exact same bike

a better alternative would be the Yamaha Warrior

for 1600cc engine the performance numbers are terrible

    63.7@5750 hp@rpm

    13.48@96.7 quarter mile, seconds@mph

5.52, top gear roll ons, 60 to 80 mph in top gear in seconds

a Suzuki SV650 thats 2/3 smaller engine has better performance numbers

    73.5@8750 hp@rpm

    11.87@110.0 quarter mile seconds@mph

4.44, top gear roll ons, 60 to 80 mph in top gear in seconds

  2. It's a quick bike but not bad, I would be very careful because when you twist the throttle it will go FAST.

  3. If you are a bigger guy, I would say go for it, You can always get ahold of cheap 70's j*p bike to learn on, for a few months, then sell it and make atleast your money back....

I would have to agree, they are fast.....
