Is a Kawasaki Ninja 650cc a good starter bike?

I have no experience at all with motorcycles but i have always wanted to get into it and my uncle is a big motorcylce guy and after talking to him, the kawasaki ninja 650cc would be a good starter bike for my size. How much do these bikes usually run for used? Where is a good place to shop around in the cleveland area? Is this bike user friendly? Any info on these bikes would be appreciated. I'm not looking for a speed demon or something that i can ride hard. It would be for just casual driving and weekends. I don't like the look of a cruiser or harley but love the looks of a ninja bike.

  1. yes, its a very good, almost perfect bike for a beginner.

Its very easy to ride, a beginner would look like a pro riding it.

personally I have a few issues about the 650 Ninja, to me its made more cheap and generic than either a Honda or a Yamaha, to me a much better choice would be the Yamaha FZ6 or the Honda 599.

I don't like the sound of the engine on the 650 Ninja, to me its a cheap engine noise, valve and piston slap noise, but the Ninja 650 is a good and reliable engine and the 650 Ninja is buzzy, more vibration and wobble at high speeds due to the frame and suspension made at a cheaper quality, but all bikes have some sort of buzz and vibration, some more than others.

I have owned many different bikes for a long time and I can feel the quality of a bike by riding it and i'm very picky, you understand when you ride a high quality bike it gets you spoiled and riding other bikes don't feel as good.

Don't get me wrong, the Kawasaki 650 Ninja is a great bike, but you may not have a problem with it and you will think its one of the greatest bikes out there.

To me the greatest bike, with the best feel of high quality is the Honda Interceptor, but I own a Yamaha FZ6 it has some issues, bad front suspension but I live with it.

  2. That would be a pretty good bike to start with, as long as it feels comfortable for you to sit on and in riding position. It shouldn't be too much power for a beginner, but is big enough and has enough power that it will get the job done.

I currently ride a 500 cc cruiser after not having ridden several years and am ready for a bigger bike. This one should be big enough to keep you satisfied, but not so big as to be worried about getting more experience.
