I'm looking for a BMX to buy so I can take it up as a hobby, I was looking up sales website ans found a cheap new Mongoose Mischief for $170 when Its retail price is around $250.

I was wondering if this is a good quality bike? What are the Cons and Pros about it ?

  1. dont ever buy a mongoose they suck. they weigh a ton and are made of cheap parts. if yuo want a good bike you'll need to spend at least $350 and go to danscomp.com

  2. The Mischief is a good entry level STUNT bike but would make a lousy BMX.

BMX- Bicycle Motocross- is dirt track racing with berms and bumps and the like. The Mischief should NEVER be taken off of pavement. I know a few street and vert (freestyle) professionals that use a lower end bike like the Mischief for warmups and to try out new tricks.

If you are looking at the d**k's website for youe source I agree that it is a smokin' deal. However, if you get it online take it to a bike shop to have it assembled correctly using some of that money you saved. That kind of bike requires careful attention to details which are sometimes, er, almost always overlooked by a home assembler (no offense intended).

EDIT: If Mongoose is so bad then can you explain why their Pro series are among the most popular bikes on the circuit? It isn't because they give them away! I am not talking about Walmart stuff.

Can you explain why, if they are so bad, that almost every other brand in the same price range use LOWER quality parts than Mongoose? Take a look and compare!

Can you explain why, if they are so bad, more riders win locally and nationally on Mongoose than any other brand?

Heck, if you can explain this I'll be happy to apologize and maybe change my point of view!

  3. Mongooses suck
