  1. Yes.  Hominids walk on two feet.  Neandertals walked on two feet, which is evident by their skeletons below the skull.  They had the anatomy and bone shape/structure needed to walk upright.


  2. Yes, Neanderthals were homids - in fact they were hominins, like us and chimpanzees. They were co-inhabitors of the planet with modern humans as late as 30,000 years ago. They existed for approximately 170,000 years and there is no one explanation for why they became extinct.
